Instructor Biography:

Chuck received a Master in Landscape Architecture in Urban Design from Virginia Tech, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Ohio State University. He subsequently completed a Master of Architecture at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles.

Chuck believes that design should focus on creating meaningful places for people in public settings that both bring people together and serve community interests. He ensures that design is well-resolved, highly crafted, and is both environmentally-responsible and long-lasting. He is recognized as a leader in community planning, mixed-use urban design and as an expert in landscape architectural implementation practices.

Effective process, comprehensiveness and attention to detail are hallmarks of his work. He recently authored a national award-winning textbook Landscape Architecture Documentation Standards: Principles, Guidelines and Best Practices. Chuck has led some of the industry’s most challenging projects across North and South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. His work has been recognized with a score of awards and has been shown at the Venice Biennale, the Dubai Arts Festival, the Los Angeles Film Festival and a host of international conferences.

Chuck recently led the planning and urban design of eleven new affordable housing communities across Saudi Arabia. These communities are planned to address imperative challenges faced by the Kingdom, seeking a more sustainable set of development practices. While in Saudi Arabia, Chuck taught urban design at King Saud University.
